become an educator

some of our educators

Krissy

During their time in care with me your children will be provided with lots of fun opportunities for learning alongside structured routines determined by you and the needs of your child based around meal-times/feeding, sleeping and play.

I pride myself on being a nurturing, fun loving educator, whose main goal is to extend on children’s own interests. I am flexible regarding hours.

Dianne

I will offer your child/ren a chance to have fun and play with other children as well as opportunities for learning. I will give them hands-on experiences such as making crafts, art, painting, reading books, creating plays and baking. With a range of toys and a large concrete area for bike riding and chalk drawing.

Jan

I offer a safe secure nurturing environment for your little treasure.  I provide outings to preschool activities as well as stimulating play experiences at my home.  I give the children opportunities to experience fun and learning while in a secure and safe environment.  We have lots of fun with bubbles and play dough, paints and crafts at home.

We attend Pohutukawa Kids play groups and visits to the park and beach as well as attending outings organised by Pohutukawa Kids.  I also often visit other caregivers in their home or they come to mine for playdates.

why become a Pohutukawa Kids educator?

At Pohutukawa Kids, our co-ordinators are fully invested in supporting you in your care and education practices. We provide guidance throughout the stages of being an Educator, from initially signing up, meeting families and then the education of children in your care. Our co-ordinators are fully trained, and are able to provide individualised support and resources for you and your learning environment.

We provides you the opportunity to care for up to two children under two, and four children altogether. Because of the structure of home-based childcare, the hours you work are flexible to suit the needs of you and the families.

We believe communication is essential, and because of this we maintain regular contact and visits with all our Educators. Our Educators are supported in setting up and maintaining their home learning environment; including Pohutukawa Kids providing essential equipment such as port-a-cots and high chairs. We also provide monthly resource packs, which you can choose based upon the interests on the children in your care. Furthermore, we have weekly playgroup and gym sessions. These provide valuable opportunities for you to meet and develop relationships with other Educators, have continuing discussions with our co-ordinators, and learning opportunities for you to provide the children in your care.

who can be an educator?

Pohutukawa Kids is continuing to look for people over the age of 17 who are interested in providing a learning environment that is nurturing and educational. This is a perfect opportunity for stay at home parents, who can continue to look after their own children while working; it is also great for grandparents, early childhood educators, primary school educators, and many others.
